Liangcai: Happy birthday! (lala, you are tasked with telling him this hor)
Had a super fun night out with lala & the munchies yesterday night. It was in honor of the one above and Remy, another munchie. And surprise surprise, you find NJ people in the oddest places ever. Two of the girls there were from our dear old gray-uniformed institution, but like the rest of us, you'd never be able to tell *grin*. Hey... leong uses the same term for the people. Great minds... you know the rest. But honestly, the night was a blast. Mainly because the peeps were nice - I'd met a couple of them from a NUS-sing session on Wed, and I really got the "we'll take care of you" vibe from em. Lol. Maybe it was because of the weirdo that kept coming to "infiltrate" the group. Goodness. You'd think a guy would take a hint. Yupyup.. I even pass for someone who knows cheena! Well.. one with a bit of a kentang label but still. Weiliang the supposedly ching chong chiang one never knew the diff until he was told right? Twin dear, I can't wait for you to be back. We'll paint the town RED! Or in our case, you and lala can do the pinks, purples and baby blues.. I'll settle for any other colour. (eh, I still need to see the rest of the place yo. ) Caught up with lala, ling and gorilla at nus on wed - its really nice to have my girls (yes, you're mine) with me again. Subject matter revolved around unmentionables, mainly. Volume was at "let the rest of the cafe know exactly what we're talking about!" levels, and it was almost a competition to see who could laugh the hardest. Woot. The food at munchies is yummy.. we had super satisfying dessert (and we all know that thats the most important meal of the day, don't we?) Oh... which reminds me. gorilla owes us awfully chocolate cake. Or something like that.
Actually, last night was really eventful, because before the fun at you-know-where, I was in the gym at home, innocently trying to fulfil my quota of "lets stay healthy" activities. And I was pretty happy too because it was quiet, just me and the radio... er... scratch the quiet bit. Anyhoo. In walks he whom I shall term "catwalk cad". He was quite a mystery. Walked in, wearing blue running gear and a cap (at night?). Walks round the gym once. Parades round another time. Sashays round again. Geleks round once more. Ambles around while catching his own reflection in the mirror everytime he faces it. Makes me start to wonder if the floor will begin to show wear. And finally, stops. And stretches. Admires himself more in the mirror... and more of the same. He is then joined by the weight dropper. Remember him? He's the dude that loves using weights that seem to heavy for him by virtue of the way he drops them like hotcakes after using them. He's the hokkien lang who yakked so loudly and rudely on the phone for a good few minutes and even had the gall to turn the radio down so that he could hear better. Yeah well, he still exists. BAH. Thankfully, i reached the day's target (well, I did run a little faster so as to not prolong my stay there) - so it was sayonara senorita for me.
Speaking of gyms, fan dear shared the wonders of her membership at cali fitness with me :D and boy am I a happy camper when I'm there. Dude.. they have more machines than I ever knew existed there. And well, lets just say that besides the generous tvs, there is alternative entertainment. Thanks fan! |

7 days to go.
In the past few days, I have come to realize that:
I do not like to pack. I like certain kinds of men's cologne. Yes I know, its shameful. I like surprises. I do not like mosquitoes. This is not a realization, its a confirmation. Sappy lovey dovey movies are bad for the soul. Once again a confirmation. Ice cream only tastes good when you've someone to share it with. A female is usually the better candidate. I need to somehow lug my guitar to Oxford. Dang. I have too many wrong shoes. I'm a bit of a nomad. Physically and otherwise. People are not easy to keep in touch with. And that I should work harder! I will forget most of the chinese I learn. But that is not an excuse to stop. I've been crabby. There are changes that need to be made. But what?
I think I'm learning something. Can't quite put my finger on what it really is though. Probably something deep and terribly esoteric. So much so that I'll make people etoilate when I speak of it.
Right. |

The old hard drive died. Suddenly and with terrible efficiency such that nothing was left.
I acted quickly to get attention from its makers. They broke the bad news to me firmly, and in my opinion, tactlessly. I mourned. Kicked myself for leaving all the backups in the states, locked away for a year in some container that is climate controlled and near the Massachusetts IKEA. Got the body of the hard drive back into my custody for a time. Tried to bring it back from the dead with help from data recovery dudes. After valiant (I am assuming here) efforts, they returned with sad news. All that was left of its memory was a sample song (with a tacky name) that came with it when it was first made.
As the old one sits on my desk with what dignity it has left, I believe that it is time for the new one to be initiated into the ways of moi.
So... I need blog addies, and whatever else that I would put into moi bookmarks.. and of course, your sympathy! |
