Patience.
I think thats the lesson God wants me to learn at this point of time. Patience with my family. Patience with my friends. Patience with my work. Patience with those who don't seem to be seeing the big picture. Patience with those who aggravate my friends. Patience with those who aggravate me. Patience with transportation. Patience with myself. Ambitions, dreams, hopes, desires. They will come. I know and I know and I know that all good things are in store, for hasn't He been faithful thus far?
That's the thing though. I don't have the patience sometimes. Without my sisters in Christ with me, its so much more difficult to live for my audience of one. I miss Monica and her dedication to serving. I miss Mei Ai's quiet, consistent faith. I miss Cathleen's conversation and Wonhee's honesty. Linda's company and Yang's laughter. Val's understanding. Jenny's love and Theresa's enthusiasm. Sophie's courage and Karin's continuous hope. The (ex) first years' curiousity and joy. Tammy unni's inspiring life. Ee's wisdom. Sookyung's sincerity and Lauren's laugh. Judy's smile and Sophia unni's observant care. In short, everyone who's walked the walk with me. I was afraid to come back because I didn't know what I'd be without those who inspire, challenge and care for me. I guess the answer would be incomplete. We've talked about this before. And we concurred that fellowship in Christ sweetens and deepens friendship. I appreciate y'all so much more now. Don't get me wrong, I'm contented with and grateful for what I have here~ a lovely workplace, interesting job, friends old and new- but know that you're missed!
Same goes for you girls in aussie - twin and uniz: you're the ones that I count on so much and being here just isn't the same when you're not! Miss you loads. Fen, counting the days till you're back... and wei, email k?
Bah. If only I had a teleport machine or something. Like my own jet. |

Thumb has a booboo. I squished it in the car door. Argh. I the same thing to my left thumb about 2 years ago and I've repeated the feat. What can I say: I don't seem to learn from my mistakes. But God's been merciful - I know that the nail won't fall off this time. Mom keeps asking me how I managed it. Goodness knows. For now, it shall sit in iced water.
The first week of the internship has been good. Well, to be more specific, the officers are superbly intelligent, the other interns are nice people to hang out with, my supervisor is extremely busy but she's cool in an off-beat manner, my surroundings are very comfortable, I get long lunches, workplace is in a nice central location... and I like my work. I can only thank God for his provision, and try to behave in a manner that glorifies Him. |

I went line dancing today. Not by choice, but all in all, I think I've gained a glimpse of what a tai tai's life may involve in terms of gentle exercise There were/was: many ladies with more years one skinny male instructor with a fondness for hip movement and hand motions lots of memorization of steps and turns lots of turns simple steps but odd variations and for me, a very interesting experience.
I've got renewed respect for the idea of line dancing methinks.. I used to imagine it as a cowboy boot wearing event, but man, these ladies knew their turns and sweeps and whatnot while I was constantly looking at someone else's feet. They do have to do something about the names of the dances though. "Crazy Horse" and "Brokeback Waltz"? |
