New York, New York- how can one resist exploring the many little streets and large avenues, hiking all over town because its "just a few blocks away", gaping at tourists who are gaping at the Empire State building and of course feeling really relieved when one gets across the road safely? After all that excitement, Boston does seem a tad dull.
Its always amazing how many people one city can hold. The streets are always packed, and there is a constant buzz from the melange of Starbucks wielding locals and camera toting holidayers. In an attempt to blend in, we walked like them (i.e. jaywalked at every corner), ate like them (kebabs on the sidewalk? sure!) and slept like them (not very much). I don't know how convincing it was though...
Entered Shafer Hall yesterday night. Was greeted by a mound of clothes, books and other misc items who have been orphaned. People here just throw out anything and everything that they can't fit into their luggage/storage, even spanking new items. So I adopted one or two..
Now that I'm all poofed out, I've got to lug my stuff all the way across campus since I'm getting kicked out today. Going to bunk with some friends, then move to the staff house and bunk somemore till graduation. In return, I've offered to be their slave when it comes to housework.

Ugh.. so stuffed. With cajun Louisiana crayfish and jambalaya.. good food from the hot South... Oh.. you should've seen the pile of crayfish in the box that Michelle unni picked up from the airport, then that pile when it was steamed, and spread out over the table, and finally the mass grave of shells, heads and legs. Sarah ate the most (by our accounts- she had 64 heads, and she was still going. Talk about an iron stomach man), but all of us did our part too. Somewhat appropriate for the second last bible study fellowship. And of course I can't not talk about Jo's awesome tiramisu- creamy and with just the right amount of chocolate shavings- heavenly. Its also why I'm still awake right now- I'm too full to go to bed. I've been eating so much good food lately I'm sure I'm packing on the pounds. Argh. I did try to go running today though.. I think my motivation to exercise is very weather dependent. When its really nice out I feel as though I have to go do something, but if its cold and wet it takes a lot to walk the 5 minute walk over to the sports center.
We had a prospective come over all the way from Cali yesterday, a friend of Cathleen's sister. She just got off the waitlist, and was trying to decide if she should come to Wellesley or go to Smith College. Of course, when we all ate lunch with her we were incredulous that she would even consider going to Smith instead of coming here.. I remember when I was looking at colleges back in NJ- when Kevin Sim asked if I would like to meet with a Smith rep, I didn't even bother. My shallow reason? Not famous enough. But (trying) to be objective, I think that there are so many aspects of Wellesley that a lot of us take for granted, but you won't really find elsewhere. Its so diverse that every week I find myself learning about something that I never knew existed, or never thought was practiced. Like a few days ago it was Conservative Coming Out Day. Big question marks over my head. On the same night of the first year formal there was a naked party over at the feminist co-op. Yesterday there was a sit in at the administrative offices. I mean, where else can all this co-exist without large catfights? The best thing about it is how its ok to have your own views.
Finals are next week.. and I love how the campus is quite empty. Don't know where everyone went but I'm not complaining. Found out that the art library is a really nice place to study... chem. Lol. Oh and I'm going to NY next weekend! Gonna see mom and dad there-which will be really nice, since I'm staying here for graduation. It'll be a pre-going-home-holiday. Whee! But first- the mothership (my bed) calls...

Translation? Malay about how I haven't been speaking/writing it in a really long time- I just realized how rusty it was after speaking to Yana for a bit.
French- about how I always mix up words from the different languages... Too many languages. We ate really good food for fellowship after bible study- pasta with broccoli, bacon and shrimp and of course lots of cheese. And.. I don't remember what else I said.
Happy belated birthday daughter!
Sorry for not sending you an email earlier.. I've got a small pressie for you :)
Ooh..it was Mother's day today.. Me love my mummy. I downloaded and learnt how to use sound mixing software just to make her something :D actually.. the mit people had to help me out. I've been taking lots of pictures lately.. well mostly of the same ol people and flowers. Lots of flowers. Maybe one day when I retire I can become a nature photographer. Um.. make that plant photographer. Animals are cute, but I don't do too well with things that move...

Aduhai..sudah lama sejak saya berbahasa melayu. Aneh rasanya.
Ca me plais. Dans une semaine, nous avons l'examens. Je suis inquiete parce que je n'ai pas beaucoup de temps, mais j'ai enormement pile de travaille. Je suis fatiguee.. c'est le temps pour je dormir. Bon nuit!

This is so funny that I have to blog it down though I have tons of work- I don't ever want to forget it :D
So.. we have an online system called firstclass, where we can check our mail, and be on conferences. There are loads of conferences, that serve organizations, your classes and so on. Some of them are for the whole college, like this one called community. People go on, talk about things like "so, what's so great about an ipod?" or "what I'll remember about this place in 10years time" or "just procrastinating" etc.. Its where most people in college, even the professors will check out sometime and add a post. When there are lots of posts on one topic, we call that a thread.
And today, in honor of upcoming exams someone started a "hot guys" thread. Its hilarious! I added my two cent's worth too :DD Most people here can guess who I added without difficulty.. Lol.
The whole thread would be sad if it is a persistent thing.. but since we're all ever so slightly stressed- what better way to put a smile on someone else's face? And find out what everyone's type is.
