I am junk food deprived. Today I ate really healthily, cereal and lots of fruit for breakfast, a sandwich and big dressing-less salad for lunch, and pork medallions and some pasta again with salad for dinner. And this has only been one day. Sigh. Too much pie and nice food over at Christine's house. I have been spoiling myself over the past few days. Lots of tv, lots of movies, lots of food and lots of sleep. Meaning more than 12 hours of sleep each night. Bad I know. We walked a gigantic dog, helped her mom prepare Thanksgiving lunch, walked on her dad's land, went up Mt. Kiersarge and shopped for Min's coats. The shopping was so much fun. We managed to try on various fur coats and take pictures of them. Same goes for the hats. These were outlandish big hats that you'd see ladies wear to the horse races and funerals even. Think the queen's hats but a bit wilder. I tried on a really pretty and flattering coat (even though it was pink)- but sadly the price wasn't that flattering. That which is not meant to be, is not mean to be. While I had fun, I'm really glad to be back. There's work to do and my dear to talk to. Speaking of which, I should go do some work now. No procrastinating Wen!

My weekend was superb! Met up with Yen on Sat afternoon and headed to Chinatown to eat. After that we walked to downtown crossing to check out Filene's basement, this place thats reputed for its low prices. Well, 'low' is comparative. If you're looking at branded goods, there are some that are pretty good, but for someone like me... I need a larger wallet to appreciate it fully. Did buy a shirt for bro though, I think they have a decent men's section. Then we headed back to Chinatown to buy some groceries for dad and snacks. Oh yes, bro needs a haircut. He looks like bigfoot. Got to the hotel... checked in (I'm a big girl now) and waited. Watched 2 movies and some random history special about the Kennedys. They really have a sad family story, plenty of early deaths and disappointments. Then much later that night dad got in. But he was still the first to wake up. We went to Maine on Sunday, and had a lobster lunch. Yum yum. Bought a jacket and shoes too... somehow dad always gets stuff for me. I was so sad when dad left... felt like crying. But I had a pleasant surprise Monday, so that made me feel a little better. Dear got back from his trip early :)

Its a really sad song... but it sounds really nice. Gotta memorize and sing it for my french oral exam. Hmmms.. sing? Argh.

I walked out of my hall today with only a shirt and a scarf. And jeans of course. Well, the point here is that I did not need a jacket, while several days ago I was even wearing my jacket indoors! 'Tis an odd place to live in, Boston.
Plans for the upcoming weekend and week: meeting up with Theng and dad on Saturday and Sunday, and then go to Christine's place for thanksgiving on Tuesday. Exciting exciting!
I have a feeling that I will spend a whole lot more than I have earnt in this period of time though. Oh well. I don't mind spending on my bro... shall be a good jie to him.
Oh yes! Talking about sisters, I want to thank Leong and Ai Ling for their nice card! I was so so happy to have mail from someone other than the bank, and well, Stella's handwriting has not changed. Haha. Thanks girls, you made my week :) I miss my friends... and if you're reading this- well, I miss YOU!
Lately God has been putting people in my life to bless me- in different ways, but all blessings that remind me that I'm loved. There's the six of us, who have all replied my email *applause* and there's EeCheng, who's a senior here. She's Malaysian and also in the bible study group where I belong to. She brought a whole bag of goodies to my room for me~ a real treat! And then there's my roommate Min who remembered that I liked cookies and brought one back for me when she went to the dining hall. Plus, one of the families I babysit for (the one I complain about the most) invited me to their house for thanksgiving if I didn't have anywhere to go. To top it off, I've got Jer who always prays with me and prays for me even though we're on totally different continents. I'm sure there's more, I just can't remember them now.
Last night I had a really weird dream. It involved making choices, and I think I surprised myself with the choice that I made. Can't quite remember much though. Oh well, dreams are dreams.

I declare the weather crazy. Then again, it probably has always been this way over here. On Friday it hailed while I was walking back from my PE class. Hail is no fun because it feels like giant sand bits hitting you constantly. Then when I was sitting in my room doing work, it started to snow. Min and I were so excited that we got ready to go outside to take pictures immediately. After that initial excitement, we started getting used to it, because it snowed the whole of Friday till Saturday morn. The entire campus was covered in snow.. I think we had about 6 inches of it. So on Sat when I babysat some (horrible) kids, we were able to play in the snow and make a snowman.. make snow angels... have snowball fights...
And on Sunday it began to get sunny. It was sunny today too. And its really weird because now I am able to see grassy patches amidst gleaming snow.. and there's water everywhere due to the snowmelt. Notice how this entire thing is about snow?

So many things have happened since the start of the week.
I attended a different church on Sunday, because I want to be sure if where I'm going is the right place for me. Its really important that I'm in a place that will help me grow, that will keep me accountable. The one that I used to attend is BBC, while the one I tried out is CBCGB. Don't ask me why they have such odd acronyms. While CBCGB is more similar to the service I used to go to in Singapore and it has a nice time, BBC seems to have in place a plan such tt we're mentored, and they're also more warm and caring. I still have no idea which one is better for me, I'm trying very hard not to decide based on how many friends I have there or whose timing or music is better.
Monday I went to MIT for ballroom practice- I got there late, but that wasn't the thing that pissed me off. My partner was so bo chap at first, and now he seems to have changed his mind about competing (at least with me). So I boycotted Wed's practice, and shall not care about him anymore. C'est embetant. On a happier note, there was snow in Boston on the way back. Except that snowfall isn't quite as I imagined it to be. It looked more like dandruff falling from the trees. However, since it is my first view of snowfall, it did feel pretty special.
Registered for classes today- its a very traumatic process. I was talking to Jer online just before it (I woke at 7 to get breakfast and sit in front of my comp)- and he knows how jin jang I was at that time. I still don't know if I got my wintersession class or not, but I thank God that He somehow got me all my classes for next year. Its a pretty neat schedule, in that my days are very regular. My poor roommates and Ayako didn't quite get their classes and were quite stumped at which others they would take instead. Good thing there's still time before Spring.
God puts people in our lives for a reason- I really saw this on Tues-Wed. Because of dance I was pretty pissed off- in addition there was a lot going on. While complaining to Jer, he reminded me to pray.. and I believe that turned my next day around. It was God who made my day better, but Jer was used to put me on e right path. I happily decided not to go for dance, which gave me a lot more time to do my work. And I met Teresa on the way to a talk- she treated me to bubble tea (which they call boba here). We had a pretty good conversation too... After that a babysitting job fell into my lap without trouble, and I played some tennis too. Its amazing how well things can go if I let go and let God.

Cuttind up a calf heart is pretty much the same as slicing chicken for dinner. Or pork. Its weird actually, because I thought that I wouldn't have the nerve to do such things (at least without squirming) but- oinky was ok, and now I'm done with mr. muscle. Maybe I'm tougher than I thought. Heh. Well... thats a good thing to know, since I'm thinking of doing neurosci.
Did babysitting again yesterday. Conclusion: twins are really not identical especially in character. I had Nikea, and Julia and Charlotte, 5 year olds that don't look alike and certainly don't behave alike- given that they were born within a minute of each other. Julia was a chili padi who had a rather bad attitude, while Charlotte was cooperative and polite. It was a pretty strenous afternoon, trying to keep them occupied and not bored. And if its another thing I learnt, its that kids have an attention span of maybe 10 mins at best. Nikea wasn't their sister- she was a kid that had playgroup with them every week or so. She was well behaved too. But... well behaved does not = easy. They've got so much energy that I wondered how I was going to make it through without pinning one on the ground and having one under each arm.
Kids. God's way of telling us that we need more exercise.

To my Darling

Looking out my window,
I see the raindrops falling.
Memories come crashing through,
As I hold the umbrella that she gave to me,
One blessed Christmas Day many months ago.

Memories of the first date,
Memories of how it all began,
Memories of the first 'I Love You',
Memories of the last spoken 'Goodbye',
Replay in my mind,
As if there never was the passing of time.

Though nights are cold,
And days are lonely.
Thought love is far,
And my arms are empty.
The flame in my heart,
That burns for you,
Will burn ever so brightly,
Devoted and true.

No.. I didn't write this. Someone else did and that someone has to be smiling smugly now. Heh. It was quite unexpected- and very touching. *glow*

Productivity = dashing about and eating real quick.
Hows that for a theory? ;) Tested it today and it works out pretty ok. Had a little time after class and before my usher thing to go to the computer lab and print out stuff, check email and message Jer to tell him that I'm rushing off. Heh. I feel sorry for him... I'm always in a hurry. After ushering I ran (literally) to a talk on internships in Asia. Well, not that I can apply now, I'm still a first year, but I did see some that were pretty interesting. Maybe in a few years time. Had my first ever ballroom competition- it was an experience. Really. The word ballroom conjures up this stately, prim and proper image but it really isn't. The commentator was, as almost all commentators are, lame. And the crowd just screams out their team mates' numbers. We got through the first round, which was what I was praying for.. and considering that there are 2 heats and then the quarterfinals, we did not feel too bad about not progressing. I'm thinking of continuing to go for ballroom dance competitions too. Thus, I have to go for lessons and get shoes. Shoes cost a lot though. From $70 to $130... so I'm hoping to get 2nd hand ones. Though the thought is kind of gross... hmms. Well, we'll see. Maybe I'll just try to keep borrowing them. Haha. I'm a parasite.
Going to go look at the pictures of organs in the fetal pig now- I have to know Oinky (thats my pig's name) inside out.
