It is that time of the week once again... when I know I have work but cannot seem to bring myself to complete it. Except this time I'm torn between trying to do an oral presentation for my writing class or a 5 page paper. Hmmm. I do want to do well- and I don't know if I can with either. Well.. for sure I won't have the choice of doing neither. Sigh.
Thats it. I have to do my bio lab report after this too. I shall just work on the main points and move on to my lab. Then I can try getting back or doing french. Bleah. |

Today my writing professor said something to me that was totally unexpected, but probably true. She said that I had ideas that were profound, but my writing was not of a comparable level to express what I wanted to say clearly. Hmmm. After I got over the initial ego deflation, I have no choice but to agree with her I guess. See, I always thought that I had pretty ok, if not good writing skills- in that I have few problems with the mechanics of the language. Until I got here that is. While it is true that there are some who have really bad language skills, I don't think thats an issue in Wellesley. And I used to think that I was not a really creative person- like I can't think of new arguments, not good at lit etc- but now she says I have good ideas. Haha. Its so weird. I hope she isn't just humoring me though. Anyway, I babysat tonight for a family nearby, and through the process, earned $! Yay. Now I can spend a bit on that which I want to buy. Shall go do my french and econ now.. am I a nerd? Maybe.

It is 6 degrees outside now. Super cold. I think I'm going to have to layer up like an onion. Even when I'm wearing my sweater now I still feel a little cold. Went to dance at a studio yesterday- we learnt the rhumba instead of practicing swing like we hoped to. Oh yes, why practice swing? Because I am probably going to take part in the Harvard Beginner's Ballroom Competition. Haha. This must be one of the few non-academic competitions I've partcipated in. Oops, that makes me sound like a nerd. Well... its because I'm not really good at sports nor music- ok, so I did do band with Fannie, and I did do basketball in BHS- but I wasn't good. Um.. come to think of it I'm still not good now, but its just for the experience. Now, all I have to do is find shoes and maybe a costume... and definitely practice. A lot. It is fun though. We'll probably be the only girl-girl couple on the floor... but that just adds to the scandalous intrigue we're supposed to portray.
And for the record, I think its a guy thing to be unable to keep surprises because they want to test if we'll be happy with it or not...and if we are, they'll feel that they did good :) just my little theory.

A few days ago, a very special person made my day.
I had just talked, or rather, typed with him online, and was about to go to eat with my roommate. While she finished up her stuff, I just thought to check my email- and there was one from the mail services telling me that I had a package! Well, who could that be from? Haha.. actually I knew already because he just cannot keep surprises secret.
And that one email managed make me look forward to the long trek to the distribution centre where they collect such stuff.. but it was the knowledge that my dear had took the trouble to send me something that made me smile all day. Really. While I walked back hugging the small box I thought to myself that if anyone saw me they'd think I found gold or something. Heh. Close. I found it so amusing that you put the exact price and description on the form dear. And when I opened it I was like a kid at Christmas; cliche, but you get the idea.
I was and still am one happy camper.

Walking down this road called life,
Thinking how my world has changed, since I met the saving grace of a man called Jesus Christ
He's not just an ordinary guy, He's supernatural,
He's not just in my imagination, He's real in every way,
I will stand in awe,
Worship the King of glory, Open up the doors, lift up the gates,
May He enter in, may His power fall, may His glory fill all the earth.
I thank God beaucoup beaucoup today- I left my card and keys (which are of utmost importance here) somewhere and I didn't know where. This is one of those times where I remembered to make prayer my first response- and I am glad. I backtracked to check where I had been ( didnt help that I'd been to a lot of places and it was raining and I didn't have my umbrella) but to no avail. When I checked my email I was sort of expecting something, 'cos there was this feeling of assurance. Well, God held true and there was one from an unknown girl telling me she found my card. Thank you thank you thank you Lord.

Apakah masalah dia? Komen sebegini melukakan hati achan tahu? Cis, marahnya saya bila membaca apa yang ditulis.
Yup.. and thats the end of my rant and rave. Heh. Its actually more for my own satisfaction than anything else... Having several languages is good sometimes ;)

2 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That was a part of my writing homework. ;)
I've got cool teachers, what can I say?
Well, being someone who used to go uh-huh, yeah, interesting etc etc to uniz when she told me about buffy- I can understand why she couldn't stop watching it. Maybe for different reasons though. I think that the plot is cheesy, the dialogue corny, acting suitable for teenagers... yet it has the hallmarks of a good telly show because it hooks you. We just wanted to know what happens next even though we were sniggering at how lame it was. So sorry you die hard fans out there. I appreciate it for different reasons. Haha.
This will be our "I'm so bored" entertainment from now on.
Went to NJ's website yesterday - was feeling homesick, or rather, schoolsick- and I have to say that I'm so so proud of the 37th SC! Kinda sad that I wasn't there for the camps and stuff.. and probably won't be. To sum it up- they're bigger and just as good as we were! Heh. It'll take quite a bit before I admit that they're better 'cos the 35th is da best man..
While our time of 'glory' well... not quite- it was more like hard work.. is over, its also sad to think that all the trademarks of our council won't be remembered by anyone else but us. Hmm.. I wonder if they still pole the guys *grin. Bet Mic will remember that for the rest of his life.

-After hitting the ground running, you suddenly realise that you stepped on dog poop
and that your knees hurt and that the wind in your hair is actually messing it up and making it more difficult to go forward and that your socks don't match- wen on the current unhappy first-year-no-matter-which-country-you're-in-illness. Yeah well. Been looking at a few of my beloved friend's blogs and I'm so sad that they're not having a good time! Cheer up guys- there'll be good and bad.. I just got through my bad.. well kinda- but we'll have each other yes? |

It was Lake Day yesterday! Its this really fun event where the day is kept secret until midnight- in the past the students used to get a day off- but in our efficient world that just screws up schedules so.. we had it from 12pm to 2pm. Great fun nonetheless. I think the spotaneity and the bizarre appearance of posters and chalking everywhere adds to the joy of it all. Everybody (well, almost) looks happier too. There was a picnic lunch out on the green- they had bouncy castles too! Too bad I scheduled appointments with my professors, else I'd have gone to play that. I did get to eat lunch outside though, with a few of my friends. It was a lovely day too- blue skies, fresh air- lots of sunshine.. Well, I'm sitting here at the Science Lib now.. had one bio midterm earlier today, and now I'm going for my nice late lab. And I just remembered that I've got a french test tomorrow. Darn it. And here I was happily planning things that I want to do once my bio midterm is over. Work never ends here no matter how hard I try to keep on top and in front of it. My poor roommate is probably still screaming in frustration at her writing paper now. Hope she still has hair left when I get back tonight. Well, one other happy thing is that I'll be going to watch Phantom of the Opera next year.. on APril 7th! Thats quite a treat- we get a $5 discount and trasport methinks. Class council work is picking up too.. and there are so many many things that I want to do in my first year.. sigh. Really want to work I think. Partly because of the money, partly because for the experience and references the work can bring.

Yesterday I went wireless. It was an exciting experience... sorry lah, suaku. I do realise that this laptop runs better on AC power though. The screen is brighter. We had our class council meeting in Schneider- so I decided to bring this along to do minutes just while they speak. Its so so efficient. Wish I thought of this before.. would've saved me so many sleepless nights.
The weekend went by pretty fast- as it usually does. Headed out to Boston with Ayako.. we went to Harvard Square to eat Malaysian food at this place called Penang. The roti canai (equivalent of roti prata) was in a weird shape! It looked like a mini volcano.. but it tasted more or less the same. But the nasi lemak wasn't lemak enough.. and the crispy noodle.. was ok lah. Portions were huge though. By the time we were done we felt like bursting. Poor Ayako wasn't too used to the chili though.. and had a rough time later on. We then hopped on the T to MIT.. where there's this place called garment district. The clothes (used lah) are $1.50 a pound, so if you can find something decent, chances are, you wont be paying too much for it. But, you really have to see the place. Really. We were stunned when we walked in. It had clothes spread out all over the floor. Haha. Bring a sharp eye, and a blocked nose, because the dust just makes you sneeze so much. AND the first thing to do when you get back? Wash the stuff. Thoroughly.
